PRESS RELEASE
Val-des-Sources, February 14, 2023 - The Société d'aide au développement de la collectivité (SADC) des Sources launches the platform Sustainable Citizen Action platform, inviting citizens, businesses and organizations on the Sources territory to take action in favor of sustainable development. It offers people the chance to get informed, share ideas, find solutions, discover allies and... take action.
The platform is intended above all as a tool for action, but also as a vehicle for information for players and the general public interested in the subject. As such, it presents various existing initiatives in Les Sources and some ideas that could be implemented. It also aims to raise awareness of the Agenda 21 des Sources action plan, a comprehensive approach with the collective ambition of making sustainable development the territory's new development model.
"Circulating information has been a major challenge since the beginning of the Agenda 21 process. We're an RCM brimming with initiatives, which deserves to be better known," emphasized Pascal Lapointe, president of SADC des Sources."
The platform encourages everyone to take action at the local level, whether for their neighborhood, municipality, city, organization or company. Current initiatives and inspiring ideas are grouped under different themes to stimulate further action, such as: polluting less, preserving biodiversity, reducing inequalities, promoting food self-sufficiency, etc.
"If the platform inspires businesses and citizens to mobilize, come together, network and commit to the implementation of sustainable projects, it will have met one of its greatest challenges," mentioned Daniel Pitre, responsible for this initiative."
The platform also offers a global, cross-functional approach. Each shared idea is presented as a contribution to the deployment of the Agenda 21 des Sources action plan, but in addition, the idea is linked to one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, set by the UN, a planetary program designed to "transform our world".
Finally, the platform offers an educational section, through its blog and frequently asked questions. For example, an article outlines the key steps companies can take to embark on a sustainable development approach, with the option of being accompanied by a number of specialized resources.
This initiative is made possible thanks to the financial contribution of Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions and the Quebec CFDC network.
