Saint-Camille, November 24, 2023 - Cultur'Innov, a cooperative specializing in emerging fruit production, is proud to announce the launch of the Centre de conditionnement et de transformation alimentaire (CCTA) des Sources in Saint-Camille. This investment of over $2 million will establish a food hub dedicated to packaging, processing and adding value to agri-food products, as well as to the valorization of by-products resulting from these activities.
With two processing laboratories and a commercial kitchen, the CCTA will offer access to specialized packaging and processing equipment, such as juice presses, grinders, freeze-dryers and dehydrators. In this way, the cooperative aims to strengthen the capacities of small agri-food businesses by providing practical, efficient solutions for managing harvests and making agri-food products.
With these new services, Cultur'Innov aims to boost the marketing capabilities of its members and offer new opportunities to growers. That's why it has established a strategic partnership with the Coopérative ATAB de Trois-Pistoles, which specializes in the sale of inputs for the fermentation industry. By pooling the volumes of fruit and herbs produced by their members, the two cooperatives will be in a better position to meet the needs of agri-food processors wishing to source locally.
CCTA will eventually be able to process all packaging residues (pulp, cakes, branches, etc.) on site. By adopting a circular economy approach, the project will explore opportunities for developing value-added products from these residual materials. This global approach aims to reduce operating costs and promote efficient use of resources, while generating new revenues.
With its consulting services, agronomic research, specialized equipment and marketing services, Cultur'Innov is more than ever a key player in building a solid, sustainable food chain for the future.
"Local food production and consumption play an essential role in people's lives. In Saint-Camille, we have made culture and agriculture priority sectors of our development, as they are distinctive elements of our identity. The creation of the CCTA is in line with this vision. The project will propel the economy of our municipality and region by giving greater access to local food. This is truly a great day for our entire community." Philippe Pagé, Mayor of the Municipality of the Canton of Saint-Camille
