Last spring, 3 major players in the Eastern Townships launched a sustainable tourism project unique in Quebec.
SADC+CAE de l'Estrie, Destination Sherbrooke and Tourisme Cantons-de-l'Est have teamed up with experts in sustainable tourism to offer support tailored to the realities of local businesses. SADC+CAE's experience with very small businesses (VSEs) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has enabled us to develop a range of services that meet targeted needs and positioning objectives.
Company cohorts
The project offers support in the form of cohorts adapted to the reality of different tourism businesses, in order to develop their skills in responsible and sustainable tourism. The various courses are aimed at tourist attractions, accommodations and festivals/events. This support will enable tourism businesses in the Eastern Townships to meet the growing expectations of visitors, and is made possible thanks to funding from SADCE+CAE de l'Estrie, Destination Sherbrooke and Tourisme Cantons-de-l'Est to facilitate access to the program.
Program objectives
"Responsible and sustainable tourism is no longer just one of many selection criteria for visitors; it's now an integral part of the experience they want to have at their destination. It's important to provide the Eastern Townships' tourism businesses with the support they need to remain leaders in this field. It is through their dynamism that the region will be recognized as a destination for responsible and sustainable tourism," says Isabelle Charlebois, General Manager of Tourisme Cantons-de-l'Est.
